Let’s get to know each other better

Who we are

The Greek Society for Adolescent Medicine (G.S.A.M.) was founded with the purpose of raising awareness among Greek healthcare professionals, specialists, and educators regarding the specificity of adolescent care.

The vision of the society is the creation of outpatient clinics, wards for adolescents, and counseling stations of general adolescent medicine, as well as education on prevention and health promotion topics through school programs and parental information.

We Know How Platform

The idea of the We Know How platform was born by a team of young people who were distinguished with the “Origami Crane” award at the 1st Student Hackathon, within the framework of the 12th State of the Art Adolescent Health Conference, co-organized by the Post-Graduate Program (MSc) “Strategies for Developmental and Adolescent Health”, highlighting the active role of youth as agents of knowledge and creativity.

We Know How is an innovative digital information and youth participation platform, with an emphasis on the youth to youth approach, meaning the creation and dissemination of content by young people for young people, which aligns directly with the principles of Developmental and Adolescent Health.

Through the website https://we-knowhow.gr/, the platform promotes valid and friendly information for children, adolescents, and young adults, enhances the expression of thoughts, experiences, and concerns, and cultivates digital literacy and psychosocial skills through themes concerning health, mental well-being, nutrition, society, the environment, and creative expression.

During the COVID-19 pandemic period, it functioned as a safe space for communication and creative participation of young people, with the support of scientific associates, constituting a characteristic example of a modern, digital intervention that is essentially connected to the philosophy and goals of the Post-Graduate Program.

Learning About My Body

The “Learning About My Body” program is addressed to primary school students of all grades. It aims to inform children and adolescents about their bodies, the underlying risks they may face, as well as the importance of protecting themselves against them.

The material and activities included in the “Student Workbook” are based on the principles of Social & Emotional Learning (SEL), aiming at the acquisition of essential Life Skills.
